I love the fall as much as any other tree planter.
The sun isn’t so damn hot and the bugs go away.
It’s also time to get as many trees in the ground that I can before the ground freezes.
This spring I planted thousands of trees. Now the hot days of summer are coming to an end and it will be planting season again in Central Ontario. I love planting saplings because they consume way less resources (water, fertilizer, transportation, and labor) than adult trees. The decrease in labor also means less back ache for me and more ROI for you. Whether you want evergreens for a hedge or deciduous trees for fruit, sap, nuts, or timber – you will profit more by having your trees planted as saplings. You may have to wait a few years to see the fruits or your labor (or mine if you want I do this for a living you know?), but they would still be much more quick to pay themselves off.
