Like many other gen Z business owners I have this obsession with trying to make things sustainable. Over the years of developing this business I’ve learned that that’s a lot easier said then done. While I generally recommend reducing lawn space to reduce your carbon footprint, I realize that there is a market here with room for more sustainable practices.
Here are some of the ways our lawncare service is trying to be more sustainable:
- Battery-powered lawn mowers
- Other battery powered equipment or hand tools when possible
- Keeping service area small for lawncare (Pickering & Ajax only)
- Biweekly service over weekly
- Organic fertilizer
- Focus on long-term soil health
The jury is still out on whether batteries are more sustainable than fossil fuels, but I do see it as a direction we will all trend towards. Even if I’m wrong, I know for sure they are a lot less noisy and smelly than gas-powered equipment!
