After leaving the company where I was cutting grass in early 2020, I was determined to start my own landscape company and do things my way. I wanted to build a company that helped people use their gardens to save the planet by sequestering carbon, producing food, and reducing maintenance. I’ve been avoiding providing lawn services since this time as I see it as an unsustainable monoculture that requires way too much maintenance. However, most of my clients have lawns and don’t want to get rid of them completely so back into the lawncare industry I go…
Of course, even though I’m going back to cutting grass, I am still determined to do things my way. I still believe there are more sustainable ways to maintain a lawn. Like mowing biweekly instead of weekly to save on gas. Or even better, don’t use gas at all.
I bought a new battery powered mower from EGO to help with this goal. So far I have found it just as good as a gas mower and the battery lasts for quite a few lawns. It’s so much quieter too and it doesn’t get gas all over the back of my car. One day I look forward to all my equipment being battery powered – even my work truck!
The mower comes with a 6 amp battery and a charging station. I was disappointed that it isn’t interchangeable with my 4 amp EGO batteries from the snowblower I bought last fall. However, I haven’t had to go home in the middle of the day to charge the lawnmower so not a big deal.
It even has self-propel although I haven’t been using it because I’m anxious about the battery dying faster.
It also comes with an attachment to collect grass clippings and another one to shoot them to the right side of the mower. The height of the mower is easy to adjust and the blades came sharp and ready to cut!
Overall I am very happy with the EGO battery powered lawn mower.
Here’s a some pictures of the mower, she’s already got a few lawns on her so she ain’t sparkling like she was when I bought her… Still pretty clean though.

It even folds up small so that you can easily carry it and put it in the back of even a small trunk.
